School board elections are held every other year across the state of Iowa, on the second Tuesday in September. This year elections will be held on September 12th.
Janine Sulzner, Jones County Auditor and Commissioner of Elections, has announced that the nomination filing period for school board of directors for the September, 2017 elections begins on Monday, July 10, 2017 and runs until 5:00 p.m. Thursday, August 3, 2017.
All school nomination papers MUST be filed with the office of the Anamosa School Board Secretary no later than 5:00 p.m. Thursday, August 3, 2017.
In the Anamosa School District three seats are up for election for four year terms, as well as one seat to fill a vacancy for the remaining two years of the term, and the signatures of at least 50 eligible electors of the district are required on nomination petitions.
The signature number is equal to 1% of the number of registered voters in a school district on May 1, 2017 and are not to exceed 50, nor be less than 10.
